What is the status of dream interpretation in 1900? Freud starts with Aristotle and his two works “On Dreams” and “On Prophesying by Dreams”. I would also add his work “On Memory and Reminiscence”.
Also there is a work by Artemidorus who lived in the 2nd century AD : a 5 volume work known as “The Interpretation of Dreams” and a work of Macrobius of the 5th century AD: “Commentary on the Dream of Scipio”. {“The Dream of Scipio” is a book written by Cicero; in the 6th book of his “De re publica” written between 54 - 51 BC.} |
