Die Traumdeutung or The Interpretation of Dreams by SIgmund Freud was first published in 1899; yet it represents a constant element of Freud’s life and investigations. He considers it to be the defining discovery of his life and his most important contribution to the field of psychiatry. There was a second edition in 1908, a third in 1911, fourth in 1914, fifth in 1918, sixth in 1921, seventh in 1922, and an eighth in 1929. The book starts with a review of the scientific literature of dreams up until 1900.
