In this section there is discussion of the god Phanes as mentioned in the seventh sermon. About Phanes: the “emergence of this figure denoting a spiritual transformation that was occurring in the world.” Discussions of Phanes occurred in the autumn of 1916. Phanes emerged as a golden bird from the tree of light. It should be noted that Phanes is the primordial god of creation in Greek mythology - is this the god who ‘appeared’ to Jung?
