8. I. 14 There is a conversation between Jung and Izdubar. It is a dialogue about modern science as Jung tries to explain it to Izdubar. Learning of modern science lames Izdubar. They realize that there are two truths; that of the priests of Izdubar comes from inner things of the human spirit. The truth of science comes from the knowledge of outer things. Izd. wonders how this science that lamed him is not a poison; why has it not lamed Jung?Jung said those who live with science had no choice but to swallow that poison. Science has taken from them the capacity of belief. Jung says he seeks the light of the Eastern world. Izd. wans him that because he comes from a dark land he must beware the bright light. Jung says he longs for Izd.'s truth and Izd longs for the Western land. SIlence descends as it is late at night and both fall asleep next to the fire.
