“The main content of Jung’s private library was contemporary literature of the 19th and 20th century, mainly about medicine, psychiatry, psychology and philosophy. Additionally there are a great number of books on antique cultures, gnosis, christian symbols, eastern religion, ethnology and occultism. The library also contains a collection of about 300 rare books (printed before 1800) on alchemy, theurgy and kabbala, as well as antique literature on dreams, writings of church fathers and of the latin and greek classic.”

Scrutinies was created by Charles
Jung did discuss his self-experimentation with others. He continued to rewrite from his Black books a new section called Scrutinies. In this rewriting he realizes the importance of the self in the path to God.  The self frees him from God who is hate as well as love, meaninglessness as well as wisdom; etc. This experience is reflected in the vision of Abraxas in the Sermones. He realizes that much of the Black book came from Philemon.  Now his concept of the soul is formulated to reflect three parts: a serpent, a human soul, and a bird or heavenly soul.
